With 7.5dBi gain, this antenna is best suited for long-range communication covering wide open spaces such as deserts, plains, and low-density woodlands as it produces a much longer but flatter UHF signal compared to lower-gain antennas. The benefits of the antenna is the long distances it can cover however it also means it can be susceptible to interference from obstructions in its line of sight.
The 1040mm length antenna is encased in a high-quality fibreglass tube and secured to a medium-duty stainless steel spring. Due to its heavy-duty design, weight, and height, the CBA5T1 is recommended to be installed on the bullbar of the vehicle, making it suitable for trucks and 4WDs. The antenna is ground independent so it will maintain a stable radiation pattern. The elevated feed design helps raise the radiation pattern above the vehicle roof and other obstructions to ensure high performance when mounted on a bullbar.
It is fitted with a 4.7 metre RG58 coaxial cable which is pre-terminated with an FME connector making it easy to install through the firewall grommet in vehicles. An FME to UHF PL259 screw-on adaptor is also included as well as a mounting spanner for hassle-free installation. Built sturdy for the Australian outback, the CBA5T1 is the perfect antenna when you need to communicate out in the middle of the desert or the open plains of the outback.
