Description
Kill the Rattles, Keep the Bass OVERKILL Foam Damping Mat for Interior Panels and Speaker Gaskets
Product Overview
Stinger RoadKill OVERKILL is a dense 6mm self-adhesive foam damping sheet designed to eliminate vibrations from door trims, interior plastics, and panel gaps that degrade sound quality and create rattles and squeaks. One RKO12 kit covers 12 square feet (32" x 54") from a single roll enough to treat a full set of door cards, pillar trims, and interior plastics in most vehicles.
Unlike mass-loaded vibration damping sheets (such as RoadKill Expert), OVERKILL works as a compression foam layer placed between two surfaces, its spongy construction absorbs the vibration of trims and plastics pushed against it. It can be used on its own or layered over Stinger RoadKill Expert for a dual-layer solution. The self-adhesive backing bonds directly to the surface with no additional adhesive required; surfaces should be cleaned with wax and grease remover or methylated spirits before application.
The foam is also suitable for cutting custom speaker gaskets, making it a versatile addition to any build where speaker-to-baffle sealing is needed.

Features & Benefits
-
Eliminates Interior Panel Rattles — The 6mm dense foam compresses between interior panels and body surfaces, absorbing vibrations that cause buzzing, squeaking, and rattling in door cards and trim pieces.
-
Improves Speaker Bass Response — By reducing panel flexion and vibration, OVERKILL allows speakers to push more acoustic energy into the cabin rather than losing it to panel movement — improving bass response and overall clarity.
-
Self-Adhesive Application — The pressure-sensitive adhesive backing bonds directly to clean panel surfaces with light hand pressure. No spray adhesive, heat gun, or additional tools required.
-
Speaker Gasket Material — The foam can be cut to shape and used as speaker gaskets between the speaker basket and mounting baffle, improving the acoustic seal and reducing bass leak.
-
Compatible with RoadKill Expert — Used over Stinger RoadKill Expert damping sheets, OVERKILL adds a compression foam layer to the constrained-layer damping treatment for a more complete solution.
-
Large Format Coverage — A single 32" x 54" sheet provides 12 sq ft of coverage, enough to treat door cavities, pillar trims, and boot lining in a typical install without needing multiple rolls.

Compatible With / Goes Well With
- Door cards, door trims, and inner door skins
- Interior pillar trims and roof lining panels
- Boot lining and parcel shelf applications
- Speaker mounting baffles — cut to speaker gasket shape
- Stinger RoadKill Expert damping sheets (used as a foam layer over CLD treatment)
Caution: Ensure all surfaces are thoroughly cleaned with wax and grease remover or methylated spirits before application — adhesion will be compromised on oily, dusty, or waxed surfaces. Allow 24 hours for full adhesion strength to develop. Not suitable as a structural damping layer on bare metal panels in isolation — use with RoadKill Expert for constrained-layer damping on bare metal.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between RoadKill OVERKILL and RoadKill Expert?
RoadKill Expert is a mass-loaded constrained-layer damping (CLD) sheet applied directly to bare metal panels to reduce resonance. OVERKILL is a compression foam placed between panels and trims to absorb vibrations from plastic-to-plastic or plastic-to-metal contact. They address different noise sources and are most effective when used together.
How much area does one RKO12 sheet cover?
One RKO12 kit provides a single 32" x 54" sheet (approximately 81cm x 137cm) with a total coverage of 12 square feet — typically enough for two full door cards or equivalent interior panel coverage.
Can OVERKILL be used to make speaker gaskets?
Yes — the 6mm foam can be cut to shape and used as a speaker gasket between the speaker basket and mounting surface, improving the acoustic seal at the speaker-to-baffle interface.
How do I apply RoadKill OVERKILL?
Clean the application surface thoroughly with wax and grease remover or methylated spirits. Peel the backing and press the foam firmly onto the surface with hand pressure — no heat or additional adhesive is needed. Allow 24 hours for full adhesion to develop.
Is RoadKill OVERKILL suitable for use on bare metal panels?
OVERKILL is a compression foam and is most effective between two surfaces (e.g., trim panel and inner door). For bare metal damping, RoadKill Expert CLD sheets are the appropriate product. OVERKILL can be used in combination with Expert for a complete two-layer treatment.
