When using high-level speaker inputs, no remote turn-on wire is required. The variable DC offset high-level input circuit detects the incoming speaker signal automatically and powers the amplifier on. When using RCA inputs, a standard remote turn-on wire from the head unit is required. Additionally, the Remote-Out feature provides a trigger output when the amplifier is running from high-level inputs, which can be used to activate downstream components.
What does the tri-colour output clip LED indicate, and how is it different from a standard clip light?
The PBR400X4D's C.L.E.A.N. output clip indicator uses three colour states rather than a simple on/off clip light. Blue indicates the signal is clean at less than 0.5% THD. Violet indicates the signal is approaching the clip threshold at 1% THD. Red indicates the signal is clipping at 10% THD or greater. This tri-colour system allows gain to be set more accurately during installation without an external measurement tool.
Are the crossover points adjustable, or are they fixed?
The crossover points on the PBR400X4D are selectable but fixed, not continuously variable. The High-Pass crossover can be set to either 60 Hz or 80 Hz. The Low-Pass crossover is fixed at 80 Hz. All crossovers operate at 12 dB/octave Butterworth slope. For installations requiring precise variable crossover control, an upstream DSP such as the DSR1 would be needed.
