Product Overview
The Rockford Fosgate PMX-1 is a Punch series marine grade digital media receiver purpose-built for demanding marine environments. The front panel carries an IP6 Marine Grade rating and has been tested to ASTM B117 (salt/fog) and ASTM D4329 (UV) standards, with full Element Ready protection against water, dust, UV radiation, temperature extremes, corrosion, and vibration throughout.
The 2.3 inch full dot matrix LCD display uses wet bonded 9H tempered glass optically bonded to the panel, optimising readability under all lighting and viewing conditions including direct sunlight. Bluetooth 3.0+EDR with A2DP 1.3 and AVRCP provides stable wireless audio streaming from smartphones and devices, with easy pairing, extended range, and glitch-free playback. The AM/FM/WB tuner covers 18 FM, 12 AM, and 6 WB presets across multi-region radio frequencies. USB 2.0 input supports MP3 and WMA playback with 1A device charging. An RCA pair AUX input provides a wired analogue audio source option.
Signal processing includes a 7-band graphic EQ with parametric EQ, independent subwoofer level control, and selectable high-pass, low-pass, and all-pass crossovers with selectable 12 or 24dB/octave slope. A voltage gauge with low voltage warning assists with vessel battery monitoring. The PMX-1 is compatible with the RF Connect iOS and Android app for native device control, and with the PMX-BTUR steering wheel remote accessory (sold separately). Maximum internal amplifier output is 25W x 4 at 4-ohm RMS (CEA-2006 rated) or 50W x 4 at 2-ohm maximum.

What is the difference between wet bonded glass and a standard marine display?
A standard marine display has an air gap between the LCD panel and the outer glass, which creates glare from reflections and allows condensation to form inside the display in humid marine environments. Wet bonding eliminates this air gap by optically bonding the 9H tempered glass directly to the LCD panel with a clear adhesive, improving clarity, reducing glare, and preventing internal condensation for a significantly more readable display on the water.
Does the PMX-1 support SiriusXM satellite radio?
No. The PMX-1 does not include SiriusXM-ready connectivity. It covers AM, FM, and Weather Band tuning plus Bluetooth streaming, USB, and AUX input for audio sources.
What is the RF Connect app and does it require a separate connection?
RF Connect is the Rockford Fosgate smartphone application for iOS and Android that provides native control of the PMX-1 including volume, source, EQ, crossover, and tuner functions from a paired smartphone. It connects via Bluetooth - no additional hardware is required beyond the Bluetooth pairing used for audio streaming.
Can the PMX-1 power speakers directly without a separate amplifier?
Yes. The PMX-1 has a built-in amplifier rated at 25W x 4 at 4-ohm RMS (CEA-2006), which is sufficient to power marine speakers directly in smaller installations. For higher output applications, the PMX-1's RCA outputs (2V) can be used to connect an external marine amplifier such as the M5-800X4 for significantly more power and headroom.
Is the PMX-BTUR steering wheel remote included?
